Gor Mahia to host SoNy in Nakuru

After going down by a solitary goal to KCB over the weekend, Gor Mahia will be seeking to get back to winning tracks when they host Awendo’s SoNy Sugar FC at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru tomorrow (Wednesday 30th) as from 4pm.

Coach Hassan Oktay and his boys will be under pressure to deliver a win against a team that they have generally found stubborn.

Last season, K’Ogalo did a double against the sugar millers, on both occasions winning narrowly by solitary goals via Ephrem Guikan and Jacques Tuyisenge.

Gor Mahia first played SoNy in the league in 1993 and it was the then speedy fans’ favourite Mike Otieno who did the damage – netting the fixture’s only hat-trick to date.

This time, another fans’ favourite Dennis Oliech will be in line to face the club against which his elder brother Steve Okumu also found the back of the net thrice to be joint highest scorer in this fixture with Mike Otieno and Meddie Kagere.

Striker Jacques Tuyisenge is on course to become the first player to score 40 league goals for Gor Mahia since Peter Dawo surpassed the tally in the early 90s. He is currently on 39 league goals and it is only a matter of time for him to break the barrier.

Gor Mahia are currently placed nineth on the log, 10 points behind league leaders Mathare United and fans will be desperate for a win to narrow the gap.
