After being excluded in the mid-week CAF group stage qualifier match against Malawian side Nyasa Big Bullets, Gor Mahia midfielder Francis Kahata is back to the squad and will be available for selection against Kariobangi Sharks in Super Cup tie tomorrow at Kasarani stadium.

The availability of Kahata was confirmed by Gor Mahia coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno. The tactician further said that their opponents are on a high but they have prepared for the match well and have been keen on areas that need keen concentration.

“I am happy midfielder Francis Kahata will be available for selection in tomorrow’s match. That’s a plus and a big motivation to the team. Our opponents (Sharks) are on a high but our preparation for the match has been great we just need to concentrate on our game. Since the match was pushed to Sunday, we had an extra day to prepare and the team has been working on areas we think we need to sharpen,” Zico told the official Gor Mahia website.

Gor Mahia will have to do without striker Jacques Tuyisenge and midfielder Kenneth Muguna who picked up injuries in the mid-week clash with Nyasa Big Bullets.

“Tuyisenge and Muguna will be out and they will not probably make it even to Malawi for the return leg against Big Bullets. The two picked up injuries on Wednesday – Tuyisenge will have upto 4-5 days therapy before recommendation and Muguna will have a four day rest,” added the coach.

In absence of Tuyisenge, the coach will have to work with the available options in Erisa Ssekisambu, Ephrem Guikan, Francis Mustapha alongside side other available players.

Gor Mahia have played Kariobangi Sharks five times in all competitions – four league matches and one shield encounter. KÓgalo have won four times with one match (shield) ending in a draw that saw Sharks proceed through penalty shootout.

The season’s curtain raiser will kick off at 3pm.
