Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr has said they will battle hard and make sure players’ mentality is focused in today’s league match against Kariobangi Sharks in Kisumu.

The Briton, who is leading his troops to their 21st league match of season, added that their focus is now fully on local league matches and they will continue working hard to be better.

“We expect a tough match as always but we will battle hard and make sure players’ mentality is focused. It’s going to be a really tough run but we are in it,” Kerr told Gor Mahia website.

“We have a tight schedule and our attention is now fully on league matches with an aim of achieving the best. The journey is long and we will continue with our progressive way of doing things to be better,” he added.

Kerr’s sentiments were echoed by captain Haron Shakava who clearly stated the kind of match they are expecting and how well they will handle it.

“Compared to us, our opponents seem to be fresh… it will be a tough match because all teams always do give their best against us. We are ready and we will fight hard to get good results. It’s a match like any other and we must offer our best,” noted the captain.

Gor Mahia who are unbeaten in the last 26 league matches – stretching to last year, are leading the league table with 52 points after 20 matches while Kariobangi Sharks are seventh on the table with 34 points after 23matches.

Worth noting, Sharks have never beaten Gor Mahia since their debut in top league – 2017.

The two teams have met thrice with Gor Mahia winning all the three encounters – pulling a double over Sharks in 2017 and beating them 2-1 in first leg of 2018 season.

The match will be kicking off at 3pm and should Gor Mahia collect maximum points, they will extend the lead at the top to 55 points – with a gap of 11 points with three matches in hand.

This is the time when we need to bring more academy players on board to accord them match experience as rest our dependable stars
