It is D-day for “Mashemeji” Derby

The encounter has been a long overdue with postponements, but it is here at long last as AFC Leopards host the undisputed Champions Gor Mahia FC.

There have never been who is on form for this encounter hence the slogan of “Form isn’t a factor in Mashemeji derby”.

But looking back from the meetings, it has been sad moments for the Leopards in the hands of mighty k’Ogalo with AFC last win in 2016 thereafter losing to k’Ogalo five times with two – 3-0 defeats. These thrashings have diluted the renown derby to just another k’Ogalo training session. This battle of the two have also been exceptionally preserved on some bragging rights, whoever win take the bragging right till the next encounter.

Today’s derby do not seems to be a KPL title chase as the 20th KPL match for k’Ogalo will still leave them at the top of KPL summit with 3 more games at hand and 9 points gap even when they bow to sympathize with the noisy neighbors. AFC Leopards is at position five with 13 points deficit and more game played than Gor Mahia (click here to see KPL table).

The game will be at Kasarani today 22nd July 2018 and kick-off time is at 3:00pm – Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani. Do not miss it.
