Gor Mahia head coach has given out a word that despite some of the challenges they are facing off the pitch, his players are dedicated and are always giving their best.

The statement came after there were reports of the team being booked in a sub-standard hotel in Tanzania where Gor Mahia is participating in Cecafa tournament.

“Yes, we were booked in an hotel which l can say to be good but not good enough for Gor Mahia. It was my decision to move to another hotel which the tournament’s organizers did accept,” Kerr told the official Gor Mahia website.

Not just the sub-standard hotel didn’t please Kerr but also the first match results where Gor Mahia lost a 2-0 lead at half break to draw with Rayon Sports 2-2 today.

But the tactician understands the situation and the state in which his players are despite throwing away a cushion of two goals in match day one in Cecafa tournament.

“Like anyone would do, l was not happy with the 2-2 draw after we had grabbed a lead and we were fantastic in the fisrt 65 minutes.

“We had control of the game but it was unfortunate to let the lead slip. l understand my players… playing three competitive matches in a space of five days is not easy,” added Kerr who also pointed out they are in Tanzania to do their best and give Kenyan football a boost in the region.

Kerr also mentioned what could have led to the slip that allowed Rayon Sports to get two goals in the last quarter of the game.

“There are off-pitch issues but my players are always giving their everything… but unfortunately, if players are tired, there can be mistakes that can cost us a match like we saw today. We have a season from hell but my players have been amazing and will continue to be amazing,” he noted.

The coach also reacted to reports that the departure of striker Meddie Kagere might have an effect in the team.

“Meddie? I never mentioned him anywhere. He is gone and the club is happy without him… the team is happy without him. So, why would l say we miss him?

“In other words Gor Mahia will move foward and stay focused to what’s important and that’s exactly what’s happening right now.”

Kerr apprecites and trusts everyone around him more so those who make his work easy like the technical staffs.

“Gor Mahia is in limelight now all over Africa and apparently, some people want us to fail by dwelling on negative stuffs. We will not be derailled, our focus will remain the same – to achieve the best.

“I trust my Team Manager and technical bench… which is a rarity in African football. I do trust and respect my chairman and very greatful for his support but most of all the fans.”
