“Surely, it’s a nice feeling getting the man of the match award. I never saw it coming… l was surprised not because it’s impossible but because I was chosen by the Everton coaches and legend Yakubu,” Wendo told the official Gor Mahia website in an exclusive interview.

I am humbled with the recognition because I was playing with and against some of the best players and l was lucky to get the award, Ernest Wendo – Gor Mahia Midfielder

ln appreciating every bit of his career progress which has seen him stand out in many matches, Wendo points out the quality of players around him, the technical bench, family as well as friends who have hugely played a role in his performance.

“The secret behind my performance and the good progress is that we have a good team – the players are good, technical bench and fan base that do push us in trainings and games… l can’t forget my family and friends who always encourage me. All in all, I thank God for everything because without Him, l am nothing,” he noted.

Wendo has been a key figure in Gor Mahia’s midfield and very instrumental in many matches.
