First clash to decide Gor Mahia’s destiny

In today’s SportPesa Super Cup semi-final match in Nakuru, Gor Mahia will be facing Singida United for the first time in football history.

It will be a clash that will for sure decide Gor Mahia’s journey to Goodison Park to play Everton.

Singida United, a team that is four years younger than Gor Mahia, had a very impressive debut season in the Tanzanian top league this year – finishing fifth with 40 points. Their opponents Gor Mahia are on a high, leading the log with the season almost halfway.

To some extent, it will be a clash of David and Goliath if previous achievements are anything to go by.

Gor Mahia is a household name in East Africa and Africa at large – a couple if not the highest league titles in East Africa for a club while Singida on the other hand are testing the deep football waters for the first time after having back to back promotions from lower division to the top tier league to battle it out with the big boys.

Worth noting, Singida United knocked out Kenyan side AFC Leopards in post match penalties after settling for a barren draw in regulation time while Gor Mahia easily sent home JKU of Zanzibar with a convincing 3-0 drubbing.

But as they say, before any match, every team is a winner and it’s only the 90 minutes that can settle what’s in a match and Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr is cautious in quest to pull the best in the duel.

“The atmosphere is good and it will be a tough game because we are facing a side which has nothing to lose,” Kerr told the official Gor Mahia website.

The Briton is keen on bossing the game like a home team should do and nail the chances that will come their way.

“We want to keep the ball… we want to dictate play but most importantly, we have to put our chances away,” he added.

The match will be kicking off at 3.15pm and the winner between Gor and Singida will face the winner between Simba and Homeboyz who will be squaring it out in the early kick off of the day at 1pm.

Coz these matches are like warm up matches for GOR Mahia FC as we are waiting for the CAF confederation Cup to resume, I’d wish that Simba SC makes it to the Final with KOGALO so that we play against one of the best clubs in East Africa,

But before I wish Simba SC the Best may GOD grant us with a convincing win against the Tanzanian side Singida Utd FC.

It will be a good preparation for CAF Confederation matches if we play against strong clubs like Simba SC of Tanzania. Forward Kogalo Sirkal !!!
