Gor Mahia camp is in sorrowful mood as they share the pain of one player who lost his mother and brother in just a space of three days.

Goalkeeper Peter Odhiambo lost his brother last week through kidney failure and before he could come into terms with such bad news, his mother who has been sickling for a while passed on three days later.

The club, through chairman Ambrose Rachier and CEO Lordvick Aduda sent out condolence messages to the goalkeeper and promised to support him all through these trying moments.

“It’s true Peter lost his very close family members in just three days and as a club, we truly share his pain. Our condolences to him and family at this saddest moment. l will convene a meeting with other club officials and see how well we can support Peter and family in all these. He is our player and always dedicated, we must support him,” Rachier told the official Gor Mahia website.

“It’s such a difficult moment to Peter and our sincere condolences to him. We know how straining it can be and we will hugely support him all through as a club,” Aduda said.

The same message was echoed by players through captain Haron Shakava.

“It’s truly a sad moment and as players, we feel what one of us (Peter) is going through. Our condolences to him and the family. Let him be strong we are there for him.

“Such sad events do come with financial constraints and as players, we are putting our hands together to at least get something for our brother. He needs our support in all ways,” the captain said.

lt was the same reason the first choice goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch had to make an abrupt trip to Kisumu with the team after asking for permission to attend to his sick child.

“My child was sick and l asked for permission to give the situation some attention and l was allowed but later, l had to join the team after learning that Peter lost his mother and brother just days before and couldn’t travel. There was no way the team would go to Kisumu with just one keeper (Shaban), it’s dangerous because if anything happens to the keeper, the team can be in problems. l had to go. Our sincere condolences to our brother and we will stand with him all through,” Oluoch said.

Burial arrangements are in place and the brother will be buried next weekend on the 9th of June and the mother a week later (on the 16th June) in Ugenya.
