Kerr happy with his players’ attitude

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]fter yesterday’s 5-1 demolition of SS Assad of Mombasa in Round One of SportPesa Shield tournament match, the head coach was impressed by the attitude of players.

Kerr says winning such knock out fixtures are always tricky no matter how big or small the opponents are.

He added that Gor would have pulled even a bigger win had it not been for the pitch’s condition.

“First half we scored three goals but it could have been six had the field not been a mess. Second half, credit to our opponents who had nothing to lose and gave it their best,” Kerr told the official Gor Mahia website.

“I’m happy… the attitude of my players is great because these games are always difficult regardless of who the opponents are.

“Juma scoring a brace was good. And Walusimbi as a right back scoring too was marvelous. Nanok took his goal well and Jaques despite getting injured injured, scored – but you know what, even in the last minutes he wanted that goal so badly and let’s hope he is fine.”

After the Shield match in Mombasa, the defending league champions are set to face SoNy on Wednesday in Kisumu in a league tie.
