[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s a way of exploring and enjoying the gift of mother nature, Gor Mahia will be traveling by train to Mombasa today at 1.45pm to honour their SportPesa Shield fixture against SS Assad of Mombasa.

This will be the maiden trip the team will be making by train to an away match and the move has been welcomed by the team as confirmed by Team Manager Jolawi Obondo.

This is such a perfect chance to use the new train to Mombasa as a team and we are very excited about it. We’ve been using flights to our away matches but this, will be a good trip which will give us an opportunity to see the different parts of Kenya on our way to Mombasa, Jolawi Obondo – Team Manager

The Team Manager’s sentiments were echoed by head coach Dylan Kerr who said they are excited and looking foward to the trip.

“It’s a trip that we are looking foward to because it will be exciting to see the different scenes along the way. lt’s a perfect chance to appreciate what nature has and who wouldn’t want to enjoy such? To me and l want to believe to many of us in the team, it’s a good idea, once in a while we can explore such,” Kerr said.

Then head coach added: “We are focused on tommorow’s match and we just want the players to be relaxed and be in the right mindset. We had a wonderful training session this morning and we are just preparing to travel.”

It takes about four hours from Nairobi to Mombasa by train and a total of 16 players and technical staffs will be making it down to face the Mombasa based team in Round One of the Shield tournament sponsored by SportPesa.
