[dropcap]G[/dropcap]or Mahia will be facing SS Assad of Mombasa in SportPesa Shield fixture on Sunday 27th May at Mbaraki stadium in Mombasa.

The match was earlier scheduled for June 3rd but has been brought forward after an agreement between the club and Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

ln a letter sent to Gor Mahia, FKF said that since Gor Mahia will not be engaged in a league match this weekend, they can play the Shield fixture.

“… in view that your club won’t be engage in any league matches this weekend, we wish to inform you that we have moved to reschedule your Round One SportPesa Shield  match and the match will now be played on Sunday 27th May 2018 at Mabaraki Sports Club as from 3pm…”, read the letter.

In confirming honouring the the match, Gor Mahia CEO Ludovick Aduda said that after consultation with the technical bench, it was agreed that a team can be raised to handle that match despite the absence of seven senior players who are with the national team.

“It was a mutual agreement between Gor Mahia and FKF that the match be played this weekend. We have very many matches coming up and doing away with this one was thought to be important,” Aduda told Gor Mahia website.

“We consulted with the technical bench and it was agreed beyond doubt that despite seven players being away with the national team, the available squad can comfortably handle the match,” he added.

After the Mombasa match, Gor Mahia will be focusing on SportPesa Super Cup tournament to be hosted in Nakuru.
