Gor Mahia will take part in this year’s SportPesa Super Cup edition to be held in Nairobi at Kasarani stadium from 3rd to 10th June.

As winners of last year’s edition and a team sponsored by SportPesa, K’Ogalo had to be part of the tournament and will be one of the favourites in a tournament that will come during league break.

Gor Mahia was represented by club chairman Ambrose Rachier and CEO Ludovick Aduda at launch of the tournament in Nairobi.

Rachier said: “As a club, we are honored to be invited to take part yet again in the SportPesa Super Cup this year. As the defending champions of the title, we will certainly be putting our best foot forward to retain the title. We urge all the other teams to do the same to ensure the level of competition remains high.”

The quarter finalists in this knockout tournament will take home Sh250,000, the fourth position will earn Sh500,000, while number three and two will take home Sh750,000 and Sh1,000,000 respectively. The winners will bag Sh3,000,000 and earn a chance to travel to the UK in July to play Everton at Goodison Park.

A total of eight teams have been invited, four teams from Kenya – Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Kariobangi Sharks and Kakamega Homeboyz and the other four from Tanzania – Yanga, Simba, Singida and JKU.

The draw will be done next week.
