Gor Mahia treasurer Sally Bolo expressed her relief at securing the use of Machakos Stadium, which the club finds to be a more affordable and accessible option in the absence of Nyayo Stadium and Kasarani.
Bolo extended her gratitude to club chairman Ambrose Rachier and Machakos County Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua for allowing the club to use the venue. She noted that while playing in Kisumu would have been ideal, the stadium does not meet the minimum standards set by CAF.
“Machakos Stadium is suitable because it will help us reduce expenses during this financially challenging time. It would cost the club around one million shillings to play in Kisumu, considering flight tickets, accommodation, and other expenses,” Sally explained.
If the Champions League match were to take place in Bukhungu, Gor Mahia would need to cover all expenses for their opponents travelling from Nairobi to the match venue. Bolo emphasized that this would be costly, making Machakos Stadium the only appropriate and affordable option for the club.
