Kerr: We are yearning for more wins

[dropcap]D[/dropcap]espite opening a remarkable gap of nine points in Kenya Premier League (KPL) standing, Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr is not swimming in the excitement ocean as the league heads to its final and crucial stretch of the season.

The tactician, who has led K’Ogalo to good run since he took over the mantle as the head coach, says the focus is always one game at a time and his demands have been matched by the team.

“Ours is to play one game at a time and we are not looking at the table or thinking about the gap at the moment. We play one game and plan for the next one and the idea is to prepare for each game differently because, everyone wants to beat Gor Mahia and I have to get things right,” Kerr told official Gor Mahia website.

“The demands and challenges I have set have so far been matched by the players and all staff involved. I want three points, players want three points and fans too want three points and so, we have the same target that must be achieved and to do that we must prepare well for each game while remaining focused,” he added.

Leading the league standings comes with pressure but the head coach who has registered six wins in seven league matches since his arrival says that handling the pressure is part of his responsibility and he will guide his players to offer their best.

“As a coach, handling pressure becomes a responsibility to your work. And for players, to be the best, one must and I mean must prepare well, dress smart, play smart, work hard and definitely the rewards will be amazing. I know how to handle the pressure and I want all my players to do their very best because I know what they can do.”

After hitting Chemelil 3-0 in Kisumu on Thursday, eyes are turned to Thika United in match number 24 with the same aim and the Briton says that he is not worried about the playing surface of Thika Municipal stadium and should they be hosted there, they are set to go.

“We are not having time to practice on a surface similar to that of Thika stadium but I know my players’ abilities to adapt to any kind of a game or any surface anywhere. We are good to go”
