Match preview: Gor Mahia vs Muhoroni Youth (FKF Cup)

Gor Mahia will miss the services of first choice goalkeeper Fredrick Onyango who is away on compassionate leave, when they take on Muhoroni Youth in the FKF cup quarter finals.

The match is scheduled for Sunday, 07-Oct-2012 at Nairobi City Staduim, and will kick-off at 3.00pm.

The absence of the team captain will mean either Wycliffe Kasaya or Tanzanian custodian Ivoo Mapunda will take up role between the posts, with the latter having faced the millers in the sides first leg match in the KPL league.

However the visitors will be facing a completely charged and refurbished squad under a new tactician. A side more hungry for victory than the one they downed by a solitary goal in the sides first leg league meeting.

Coach Zdravko Logarusic has led Gor Mahia to a perfect run since taking over in April, currently building on a 18 matches unbeaten run in all competitions. The tactician has declared his interest in securing a treble this season and FKF cup title defense is a major focus.

Two players obviously out of possible selection are Ivan Anguyo, due to yellow card accumulation and Moses Otieno who has been sitting out with injury.

The croation however is approaching the match with much caution.

“FKF is a tricky game and sometimes the small teams can cause disappointments. We respect Muhoroni Youth but our goal is clear, to get to the semi-final”, said Logarusic

However the coach may string in a few changes in order to rest some regular starters as the battle tightens in all fronts.

The match will serve as the two tacticians’ first encounter.
